Trail(s) Taken Logging Roads/Bushwhack

p>Possibly the greatest mountain in existence. West mountain, located in the great town of Plainfield MA stands at a whopping 2125' making it the tallest point in all of Hampshire county! Despite its lack of views its still a great climb. There is no actual trail except for logging trails so its a bushwhack for the most part (esp. south of the abandoned liberty street). This mountain used to be sheep pasture in the 1800s and was logged in the 1950s or so. There are still tons of stumps lurking around in the woods from long ago. The summit is marked by a MASS DEPW Benchmark, next to a small pile of rocks. The summit is entirely wooded. Total time: 30 mins to summit. 425' vertical.
