Trail(s) Taken Hale Brook tr

Third and final hike of the Marathon Peak bagging day! Took Hale brook trail which is pretty steep. 2300' over 2.3 miles. This mountain had a surprisingly large amount of snow. Mainly cause the trail was in a deep cut valley. Snow was first seen at 2400' and was dominating by 3000'. I was very tired when I started out and the grade was very daunting. I had after all already done about 19 mi so far! I encountered a torrent of hikers coming down to end their day. I chatted with many of them (I was very willing to take breaks). The switchbacks which existed in abundance from the stream crossing on were a welcomed change of pace. The snow was beautiful and made the trip worthwhile. Because the overgrown view from the top certainly didn't!!!! It took me 1:25 to get to the summit which boggles my mind even now considering how burned out I felt. (I was expecting 2+ hours). What is even more boggling is I made it to the base in 55 minutes. Total vertical was 2300'. Total miles 4.6. Total time 2:30.
