Monadnock 2-3-07![]()
Ah, the one year anniversary of the victory thumbs up hike! Basically the goal here was to recreate the epic "First Hike" that really kicked off my hiking spree. I took Halfway House trail up to White arrow to the summit. There was about 3" of snow lurking around on a very well packed trail. The White arrow trail was a haven of Ice and required some careful footsteps, thankfully I had my stabilicers on for the ride so not too much time was burned away on the tough spots. Above the tree line there wasn't much snow, but where there was snow it was deep. Wind deposited snow caused me to post hole almost up to my crotch! I got to the summit with very clear conditions. There were others milling around. I made chit chat for about 15-20 mins in the single digit temps. This is in contrast to last year when there was -no- snow, temps were about 3 and visibility was nil. An enjoyable anniversary hike! Monadnock is always (except when insanely crowded) a pleasure, and its oh so close! Click Here for the Hike Map
