Stratton VT 4-7-07
I arrived at the Stratton parking lot around 6:20 AM. I was the first car to arrive. I shot straight up the gondola lift line. The summit looked closer than it actually was. As I reached the summit the first skiers of the day arrived ready to begin their descent. I poked around the top for a bit, looking for the trail. It was cold and windy so my desire to get back into the forest was strong! Sure enough I found the trail with a sign which I think said "tower trail". It was a nice flat half mile or so trek over to the tower in 6 inch deep powder. The tower was caked in wind blown snow which got heavier as I got towards the top. I did not venture into the cabin but I did enjoy the views before starting my descent. There were loads of skiers when I got back to the ski area. I descended quickly making use of the powdery trail sides. It took me half the time to descend as ascend. When i reached the parking lot it was completely packed! Click Here for the Hike Map
